Volunteering at New Leaf Farms to Strengthen Our Community

 Recently, LifeWork’s team members volunteered their time at New Leaf Agriculture.

 Located in the Austin, TX area, New Leaf Agriculture is a part of the Multicultural Refugee Coalition training and employing refugee farmers delivering fresh, organic produce to families throughout Travis County. Based on an agricultural model that works with the existing ecosystems, rather than against it, New Leaf strives to connect refugee families from traditional farming culture to farming in their new community.

 During their time at New Leaf, The Lifework’s team planted cabbage, cauliflower, three types of beets, and chard and cleaned fresh eggs to prepare them for delivery. New Leaf Agriculture will include these food items in weekly subscription boxes distributed around the city of Austin, and the remaining items will be sold at an area Farmer’s Market. Contributing to and investing in our communities strengthens the bond with the people we serve and furthers our journey towards the greater good.

With many guests still working from home and will likely do so well into the new year, we are finding new ways to stay connected with our guests, keep them nourished, and provide innovative solutions to help save time and stress.

Working Together to Build a Brighter Future Through Food

We are so proud to support our partner eBay to prepare food for the community and those in need. Thanks to an innovative partnership between eBay and LifeMoves, we have been able to provide over 120,000 meals for more than 330 people experiencing homelessness throughout the Silicon Valley. The Educated Eats Chef Learning Experience

Created for LifeWorks, the Educated Eats Experience takes a hands-on approach to team building.  Our chefs use culinary techniques and ingredients to broaden the horizons of our guests.  The first event was a team building exercise where our attendees learned the history and how-to’s of making fresh mozzarella, they experienced the art firsthand, and enjoyed their creation alongside a beautiful Italian Market Bar. It was such a hit!

A NEW TWIST ON AN AMERICAN FAVORITE

With the popularity of the Beyond Meat Burger on the rise, LifeWorks Restaurant Group Executive Chef Roger Evaristo came up with a delicious beet-based burger. The Up-Beet Burger is made of raw beets, chickpeas, avocado, lemon juice, chia seeds, and the surprise secret ingredient – peanut butter! The peanut butter packs a punch of protein into the colorful creation. To dress up the patty, the dish is served with a homemade sweet potato brioche bun and vegetables from local suppliers.

Eat the Texan Way

The concept of Smoke House was built from the Texas philosophy, “eat outside every day”. The idea is simple, but actually eating outside every day in Texas can be tricky! Smoke House offers delicious smoked meats, Texas sides and of course house made BBQ sauce. Guests can enjoy the pop-up BBQ menu on the patio outside or bring it in for some relief from the weather.
