Chef Stephen- 2021 Produce Excellence in Foodservice Award Winner
Congratulations to our very own Director of Culinary Operations Stephen Palm, who was named a 2021 Produce Excellence in Foodservice Award Winner by the United Fresh Produce Association! Chef Palm is one of nine chefs honored for their creativity in highlighting fresh produce on their menus, introducing diners to new flavors, and presenting creative ways to enjoy fresh produce.
Chef Palm was nominated specifically for his conceptualization of a home grown program where guests can take home prepared meals to enjoy. Shortly after the pandemic began, he partnered with local farms to begin bundling fresh, local produce for guests to purchase. His innovative thinking helped to support our partner farms while also minimizing food waste. Chef Palm and his fellow honorees will be recognized during the United Fresh 2021 Convention & Expo in June.
Stephen has grown up learning that the foundation of any cooking technique, or menu preparation, begins with fresh produce and high quality ingredients. He also lives with the adage that as a chef, you are only as good as the ingredients you use. He feels fortunate that in Oregon, fresh produce is part of the food culture and very readily available. In fact, Stephen has participated in crop planning with local to grow vegetables specifically for LifeWorks outlets. This Chef to Farmer relationship has kept him rooted in the great amount of care, time and energy involved in creating the precious foods that he loves to cook.
Over the last eight years while working for LifeWorks, Stephen has had the opportunity to move up the ranks from Chef to the Director of Culinary Operations. He now oversees 500 employees and a multi-unit campus driven by innovation, ingenuity, and creativity. We are so proud of Chef Stephen’s accomplishments and cannot wait to celebrate him at the United Fresh expo in June!

Chef James has been tasked with culinary development, menu ideation, and innovation. Prior to joining LifeWorks, James spent 14 years with Aramark Sports & Entertainment. James was Executive Chef for Aramark at U.S. Bank Stadium and oversaw all culinary operations, including private clubs, luxury suites and catering, as well as general concessions. Mehne leads a team of six chefs and more than 80 cooks and stewards in training, production, cooking, food safety and sanitation. Chef James’ biggest task, and one of his biggest career highlights was the successful execution of Super Bowl LII

At the age of 15, Eddie kicked off his culinary adventure in kitchens. By 17, he was already a culinary prodigy, clinching victories in various cooking competitions. A scholarship led him to the prestigious California Culinary Academy, where he graduated in 2001.
Eddie`s culinary journey unfolded across restaurants, hotels, and private clubs in the Bay Area and central California, earning accolades from award-winning chefs. For the past 19 years, he`s been a stalwart at Aramark, showcasing his culinary expertise in Lifeworks accounts nationwide. In the last decade, Eddie`s been the CEO`s Chef at Cisco Systems, climbing the culinary ranks to become the National Chef for Cisco and the Culinary Director for Lifeworks.
Eddie`s not just a chef; he`s a culinary trailblazer. Leading the Lifeworks brand, he collaborates with chefs to bring the Lifeworks experience to life. Eddie`s dishes aren`t just meals; they`re a culinary journey that resonates across the nation.

Special guest Robert Irvine talks to the community @lifeworks_walmarthq about the importance of using fresh ingredients. Buying peppercorns and grinding yourself goes a long way in transforming a meal. As part of our commitment to educational culinary content, we will continue to host live cooking demonstrations at Walmart.
